Students Are Enthusiastic To Learn About Student Crime Stoppers

Students who report anonymous tips that lead to an arrest will be eligible for a cash reward.  The information must be reported through the tip line to be eligible for the reward.

School Officials and Student Resource Officers agree that most students want to do the right thing to keep their schools and neighborhoods safe but sometimes fear reprisals. The Student Crime Stoppers Program offers the safety of complete anonymity while promoting responsibility and allowing students to take action against victimization and crime.

HOW TO CALL IN YOUR TIP

  1. Call the Tip Line at 1-866-718-8477
  2. Do not give your name.  Say you are a student caller.
  3. Give the information about any criminal activity at school or in the community.  You may be asked a few questions but you will not be asked your name.
  4. You will be given a code number and instructions when to call back to find out the progress on your tip.  Your code number is the only link to the tip line. It is your responsibility to remember and protect the code number.
  5. If the information you gave has asuccessful result, you will be given further instructions on how to pick up your reward.

When to Call

  • Maybe you overhear someone bragging about having committed a crime.
  • Maybe you know someone who is driving a stolen car...or is hiding from the police...or is a robber or drug dealer.
  • Or maybe you just see something that doesn't look right. A strange car. A person acting sneaky. Someone with a gun or knife.

If you aren't sure that what you saw or heard is really a crime, call anyway. Let law enforcement officials decide if it's worth investigating. It may be a piece of a clue to a big crime.
