Calls are received through a toll free tips line. The calls are not traced, caller ID is not used, and conversations are not recorded. The Crime Stoppers Coordinator receiving the information completes the tips information form, makes initial inquiries and then passes the information to the investigating officer.

By guaranteeing anonymity, the Crime Stoppers tip line allows the caller to give information in a positive atmosphere without fear of retribution. By offering cash rewards for information leading to indictment or arrests, the program encourages otherwise reluctant callers to provide information.

HOW TO CALL IN YOUR TIP

1. Call the TIPS Line at 1-866-718-TIPS (8477).
2. DO NOT GIVE YOUR NAME. Say you want to report a tip.
3. Give the information about any criminal activity.  You may be asked some questions, but you will NOT be asked your name.
4. You will be given a code number and instructions when to call back to find out the progress on your tip.  Your code numbe is your only link to the tips line.  It is your responsibility to remember and protect that code number. 
5. If the information results in an arrest, you will be given further instructions on how to pick up your reward.
